Fonts

October Edition

Goalstar=Fette Egyptienne. I have chosen “Fette Egyptienne”, because it is a distinct typeface and when written in capital letters I make a bold premium statement. Like a newspaper headline. Since the typographic is only used in the title of the magazine, it doesn’t compete with the rest of the messaging and the other typographies used in the magazine and on the front page.

October 2013= stencil std

Rooneys dream team= BPreplay

Win neymars boots= Eras bold ITC

Cool prizes= bambibold

Fc barcelonas new mega star= Bubblegum. I have chosen “bubblegum”because it clearly stands out on the front page and, because kids in my target audience love round, unassuming and funny fonts and “bubblegum” is a good example for that. The font is also big and bold, which makes it easier and friendly for the kids to read.

Ronaldo= ILLINOIS block. I have chosen “ILLINOIS block”, because it has certain American college characteristics. Now, all though football and America doesn’t have much in common the use of that typographic creates a school type of field, which is exactly what the double page spread is all about; learn to shoot like Ronaldo, as in a school.

Goal Star Magazine

Introduction to my persons that will appear in my two magazines

Goal Star Magazine

On purpose, I've chosen four current mega-star footballers to appear in my magazine. It is as if everybody loves Spanish and English football these days, to no wonder, the Spaniards are the ruling world champions and european champions, and the English clubs are the reference point for fans all over the world. Clubs and players in Spain and England are the center of attraction for everyone in the world of football, regardless where they come from. Three of the four players are currently playing in  Spain; Ronaldo, Bale and Neymar, and the fourth, Rooney, is from the UK. Ronaldo and Bale are each superstars, Ronaldo as the established one, Bale as the one to come, and both are from one of the biggest clubs in the world, Real Madrid. Neymar, the talented Brazilian that the whole world is talking about, recently joined FC Barcelona and despite the fact that he's only been there half a season, he's the one stealing the scene these days. Actually, perhaps of Messi's half injured season, Neymar seems to be at least as interesting a figure on the football scene as Messi. Rooney, the latter, is... Rooney. Still a huge star with Manchester United, one of the most cherished clubs worldwide. Rooney has been with Man U since he was 17, and to many kids, he's a true idol. He represents, hope, hard work, dedication. He's not a quitter, but a hard working type of machine. By many standards, he's a megastar, particularly on the British scene.
